"CriManSqua. F and C. Doubletime."

"Crisis Management Squad. Front and Center. Twice as fast as you would normally go."

Ah, The Office Season 3 on dvd. I had forgotten how completely AWEsome last season was. I've been introducing Haley to the wonder that is Dunder Mifflin, Scranton - oh how she's enjoying it. :-)

So I've been a lazy blogger lately...mostly because there's not a lot going on. Let's see if I can come up with a Top Five things since I last blogged...

1. Introduced htd to two new things - the rest of my group of friends and Chili's. She'd never been to Chili's before. What a freak. (haha)
2. Went shopping for shoes for Kathy's wedding...and came home with three pairs. What?? Shoes were 50% off the clearance price! Can you blame me?
3. Discovered that you can indeed fit a 26 inch bike in the back seat of my car...but not without poking a hole in the ceiling fabric. Cripes.
4. Watched many many movies, including but not limited to: The Departed, Children of Men, Superbad, The Nanny Diaries, License to Wed, Knocked Up(again), and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Wow.
5. Went to a youth service at a church down in Chandler. We're working towards starting a youth/young adult service at my church and we're doing research by going to other churches' youth services. It was kinda fun, but definitely more geared towards the high school crowd.

Yep.

Will Smith Was Right

Chi-town really DOES got it goin' on.
(wow, MAJOR high school flashback)

I was in Chicago last weekend starting my maid of honor duties by throwing Kathy a lingerie party (in lieu of a bachelorette party) and a bridal shower. It was a pretty awesome weekend with a bit of a rocky start.

I was supposed to fly into Chicago on Thursday--the tornadoes had other plans. My flight was cancelled, so I flew in on Friday afternoon. The lingerie party was Friday night - good times! There were five gals, three dogs, fun gifts, good food and great champagne.

Saturday was Kathy and Kristen's DAY OF FUN! Kathy took me downtown for my birthday. First, we went to the Chicago Art Institute and wandered around for a few hours. We went to Millennium Park and saw The Bean. Then we went to the original Pizzeria Uno and had aMAYzng pizza. And, of course, we missed our train back to the 'burbs by a few minutes, so Kathy's dad kindly came and picked us up.

Sunday was the big day. Kathy was suitably surprised by her yacht cruise bridal shower. :-) It was lots of fun - the ship left the dock at noon and sailed for a couple hours. They had live jazz music, a great brunch buffet, and they set up an area on the top observation deck where Kathy got to open her presents. Faaancy! Also, MOMENTOUS occasion here, people. I have hated hot dogs all my life. But, after Kathy raving about Chicago hot dogs for three years, I actually TRIED one. And you know what? I still hate hot dogs.

This Plane Doesn't Even HAVE A Phalange!

There are NO Phalanges!

Boooo tornadoes in Chicago. My flight was supposed to leave at 3:05 this afternoon. At 2:00, they delayed the flight until 4:45. So there I was sitting at my gate--I'd just purchased a 20oz bottle of diet coke for $2.75, settled down to eat my Pumpkin Spice Flax granola bar and was two pages into my book when all of a sudden a "WHAT??" rang out from the Departure Board area. Yeah. Flight was cancelled.

I'm hosting a Lingerie Party for Keffy in Chicago tomorrow night and was supposed to have tomorrow morning and afternoon to buy food and set things up and whatnot. Now, instead of a nonstop flight the day before, I have to leave at 6:00 tomorrow morning, fly through Dallas, and get into Chicago at 2:15pm. Faaaantastic.

"Why, God?! Why?!"

"Let the others grow old--not me!"

Ah, Joey. :)

25. A QUARTER of a CENTURY. Wow. So today was a good birthday. Haley and I went to breakfast with my parents, who were in town moving Haley in with me (yay!). Right after we ate, they headed on down the road. Then I went to work (meh), where there were flowers and presents. Then I came home, where there was a burrito and a crazy birthday candle that my parents bought for me in China last year. Oh yeah.

Apt Quote

I haven't seen my savings take a hit like this since I was a kid and they came up with double-stuffed Oreos.

My car has a new ignition switch and new front brakes. When I turn the key to the off position and remove it from the ignition, the car shuts off. It's a MIRACLE.

What The Crap?

Really?

This is an actual World Record (click on the image to see it larger).
Next year I am going to attempt the record for "Longest Waltz With A Three-Legged Yak." Wish me luck.

:-(

My car broke.

I went out for lunch with people after church this morning. Pulled in at Dilly's Deli, went to turn off my car, removed the key from the ignition and...the car was still running. Oh, that is fantastic.

Long story short, to get the stupid thing to shut off I had to pull out a couple of the battery fuses. And now I have ALL the fuses lying on my kitchen table (or, more correctly, my boss' kitchen table - I'm housesitting until tomorrow) so the battery won't be dead in the morning. And I have to call around to auto shops and take my car in before work, find a way to get to work from there, find a way to get around until they have my car fixed, and probably pay lots of monies. Sigh.
