which is ok, because the feeling is mutual.
So, 2008 is my running year. And today was my first running day. As I was looking at my Beginning Runner's Training program this afternoon thinking about my impending evening run, I was pretty excited. Really looking forward to getting back into the running thing. And the prescribed run for the evening was: Run 1 minute, Walk 2 minutes. Repeat 10 times. "Pshaw!," thought I. "How easy that will be! A mere minute of running and then a two minute break? Cake! I do the elliptical machine for 40 minutes, no problem! Open road, here I come!" As you can see, my thoughts were laden with naïveté and exclamation points.
And then came the run.
My loverly htd and I started out with a nice brisk warm-up walk. Then, at precisely 8:48pm, my first minute of running began - actual running outdoors with no cushioning elliptical motion to take the edge off of dragging around my sizeable (although less sizeable than a year ago) ass. Oy. I completed my 10, 3-minute rotations at 9:18pm. I did not die.
It's possible that I may have given the angry eyes to the seasoned runners who trotted on past me at an easy, breezy, cover-girl-worthy clip. It's possible that I may not be able to get up from the chair on which I am currently sitting. It's also possible that if I stick with this training program that I'll be healthier, happier, and achieve a major goal I've set out for myself this year.
It's possible.

My New Band
TOTALLY stole this from Bree.
1. First.
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.
2. Next.
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. Then.
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Last.
Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result as a comment in this post. Also, pass it along in your own journal because it's more amusing that way.

Find Grand Guignol's new album "Forehead With A Hatchet" in stores now!
Haha!

Tuneage
what I'm listening to these days...
Alexi Murdoch - a Scottish singer with beautiful, spare songs. Similar to Nick Drake. Listen to him on rainy days.
Amy Winehouse - Is she all kinds of crazy? Yes. Is she an amazing, soulful singer? Yes. Listen to her when you're feeling a wee bit kickass.
David Bazan - Live at the Grey Eagle. Listen to him when you're reading Bea's post about this album.
Feist - 1 2 3 4, Feist is who you're looking for. A beautiful voice with a laid-back sort of sound. Listen to her when you're wandering the park on a spring day.
Ingrid Michaelson - Such quirky little songs this girl writes. She's a little Regina Spektor-ish, but less so (if you know what I mean). Listen to her when you're feeling daydreamy and/or eating cotton candy.
Margot and the Nuclear So and So's - I think I stumbled across this band on Thister's page (thanks, yo!) They're a little bit Decemberists with maybe a touch of The Shins around the ankles. Listen to them when you're feeling introspective or a bit blue and wallow-y.
The Shaky Hands - I think I've mentioned these guys before, but I'm going to shake things up and do it again. I got their self-titled album about a month ago and it still catches me off guard how good it is. Listen to them when you're road tripping or doing anything that could be described as "frolicking."
Enjoy!

Cassie's gmail status: Reject a woman, and she will never let it go. One of the many defects of their kind. Also weak arms. ~Dwight Schrute
me: loving your quote, cousin o' mine!
C: thanks! i'm watching the 3rd season right now...
such good stuff!
me: it really is.
I read this on a blog today - thought you might enjoy it
i think that people care too little in dunder mifflin though... and the lost people are scrappy
i'm imagining the sumo wrestling scene in the 3rd season... i don't think that jim would even do well (although he would look great - oh, i love jim.)
me: haha! that's so true
although dwight would have his hollowed out physician's desk reference with the survival gear inside, so he'd be ok...
C: true
i think that dwight would be the only one to survive... and creed
b/c creed probably is a cannibal or something
me: you're probably right. he would subsist on a diet of mung beans and human flesh.
C: "Is ryan going to be a loser like jim. Or is he going to join the 'Dwight Army of Champions?!'" ~dwight schrute
The Dunder Mifflin team could be called the Dwight Army of Champions!
LOL about the mung beans and human flesh thing
me: Definitely the Dwight Army of Champions.
you know... or Gryffindor.

Suffice it to say that Lost isn’t the only show on television with an ensemble cast. I say we square them off against one another and see who’s left standing. A battle royale pitting the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 against Dunder-Mifflin’s finest… now that’s something I would pay to see. Fifty bucks says Dwight defects to Team Lost after Locke shows him his suitcase of knives.C: hahaha! that is great!
