Currently Watching: Hitch

My Aunnee is coming to see me tomorrow - hooray for friends who fly down to visit! I'm very much looking forward to having her here this weekend. If the past 14 years have taught me anything, it's that we shall have ourselves some mirthful times.

The past week has been busy as usual. On Monday we had our orientation to the human operating room. What does that mean, you ask? I'll tell you. It means that, starting tomorrow, I will be attending human surgeries so I can sketch surgical procedures. The process is fairly in-depth. First, I had to choose a surgery from the list of patient procedures and surgeons that is printed up each afternoon over in the OR. Then, I had to call the surgeon (yipes!) and ask permission to observe her surgery in the morning. So I chose to attend a laproscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) at 7:30 tomorrow morning (we have class in the afternoon, so all the surgeries we attend will be early early ones). So tomorrow morning, Emily and I have to get to the hospital by 7:00, get our sterile scrubs from the machine (it's pretty cool, you swipe your card and it spits out your pre-programmed size of scrub top and bottom), don our caps, masks and shoe covers, and head down to the OR. Scary! Emily has a tendency to pass out, so I'm to act as both moral and physical support for her should such an event occur. Let's hope not...
