Currently Playing: The Shins

Oh, Inverted World

I stayed up waaay too late last night...I was doing my laundry until 4:30am. That'll teach me to start it at 11:30. In my defense, I was up at the studio working on my Master's project until 10:45, so it's not like I could have started it a whole lot sooner (the laundry, not the project. The project is yet another feather in my huge, gaudy procrastination cap. Wow. Crappy metaphor. Anyway...) I couldn't just put in a load and go to bed because then the clothes in the washer would get that musty smell and the clothes in the dryer would get all wrinkled and that's just not cricket.

So I sat at my computer and did fairly useless things for four hours. At one point, around 3:45am, my mouse pointer crossed one of those annoying emoticon ads - you know the ones that yell things at you? Right, so as I was staring at the computer and moving my mouse like an automaton, the mouse touched one of those emoticon things and it yelled "hellooooo" and I replied in a weak and defeated voice "hiiiiiii...." And then I thought, "Wow, that was weird. I'll probably write about that on my xanga tomorrow." I'm not crazy, am I? Noooo. Shhhhhh.

I had some good news this past week - I was awarded a fairly prestigious scholarship/grant for my Master's thesis. I applied last November and I found out I was one of the winners (actually the only one from my school) last Thursday. So that's cool.

I played* softball with a bunch of people from church this afternoon - it was lots o' fun. I spent the rest of the evening/night working at the studio. Now I'm home.

* - I am using the term "played" loosely, when describing my attempts at the game of softball. I gave it a good solid effort, but my contributions to the team included placing myself strategically near a good player in the outfield so I could shriek "it's all yours, Jim!" every time the ball sailed in my direction. My batting efforts were slightly less dismal than my catching in that I actually made contact with the ball a couple of times. Unfortunately, I shocked the hell out of myself the first time I actually hit it and stood there for a second muttering "woah, I hit it" and then belatedly started my hustle to first. In spite of all this, I had a great time and got to enjoy the 85 degree weather and the fun people from church. Next time, though, I think a game of basketball is in order - now there's a sport I can play.
