I Wish Life Had A Fast Forward Button.

I would speed ahead to next Sunday at 1:30pm, by which time I will either have finished the marathon or collapsed trying. (Please pray for the former.)

[I've literally sat here for the past seven minutes trying to put into words the sheer terror/excitement/wannagetitoverwithness that I am feeling right now. I think I'm just going to move on.]

Saturday was our very last long run with TNT. It was an easy 6-miler and the weather was BEAUTIFUL (seriously, it was about 72 degrees - bliss). I got a bit sad cresting that last little hill that brings me back into the park at the end of the run. As much as I'm not a morning person (still) and as tough as some of those runs were, I'm really going to miss meeting up with this group every week to knock out some mileage.

Top 5 memories from the group runs out on the canals:

1. The very thorough graffiti artists. There was this one tag that cracked me up every time I ran by it (until someone painted over it). It proclaimed in bright fuchsia paint:
[#$%@] the GPD (and all other authority)
I just love how they were so clear, making it obvious to the public that, not only do they hate the Gilbert Police Department, they ALSO hate other authority. Just in case we were wondering.

2. The speedwalking group. Swivel those hips, guys!

3. The friendly early-morning runners. Everyone I passed going the opposite direction had a greeting or a smile for their fellow runner. The bikers, on the other hand, are a surly lot. 98% of them zoom by without so much as a nod. Hrrmph.

4. The duck posse near the Pecos Rd. crossing. There are about 6 black ducks that swim around together and one all-white duck that kind of tags along: I call him Vanilla Ice.

5. The feeling of hitting the Warner Rd. crossing and knowing that after 12 or 14 or 16 miles, there were only two miles to go. Somehow, it always seemed to be the shortest two miles of the course.
