Ironman Training Week 25

6 weeks to go

Swim: 2 workouts, 3hr 23min, 7600m
Bike: 3 workouts, 5hr 56min, Saturday ride - 46 miles (elev. gain 1,224 ft.)
Run: 4 workouts, 5hr 5min, 27.07miles
Strength: 2 workouts, 30min
Total: 14hr 54min

Challenges:
We had loooong swims this week. I have resigned myself to a very slow Ironman swim, which somehow made the training distances a little easier to tackle mentally.

Accomplishments:
I got a good tip from a guy who was swimming in the lane next to me during my Wednesday swim. I've always known I have terrible balance in the water, which means my feet sink pretty low while I swim (part of the reason I'm so slow). Apparently I was overcompensating for this by putting my head really deep in the water - dude told me (unsolicited, which was sort of annoying...) to keep my head up more.  I thanked him for the tip and focused on doing just that for my next swim. I think it helped a little?  It was definitely nice to have something other than the time to focus on.

Surprises:
Had my first 0mph crash of the training season. That's always good for the ego - haha! KBell and I were riding on this really nice, smooth, flat, relatively untraveled road and we came up to a stoplight. I have no idea what I was doing, but somehow balanced myself a little to the left and, since I always stay clipped into the left pedal when I stop, just straight-up levered myself to the ground. Surprise! I landed on my left leg and my back - which means I landed on the car key in my jersey pocket. Ouch. On the plus side, nobody (aside from kBell) saw it happen. Whew.

Bonus:
I just...love this.
