Challenge Roth Training: Week 10

16 weeks to go.

Week 10 totals:
Swim: 2. 3450m, 1hr 54min
Bike: 3. 4hr 51min, Saturday Ride: 49mi, 1099elev.
Run: 4. 20mi, 3hr 17min
Strength: 1. 23min
Total time: 10hr 25min

Challenges:
So I've realized there's a magical moment, usually during the first or second length of whatever my swim set is for the day, where I feel like a real swimmer. I'm sort of skimming through the water and it feels almost effortless and the stars are aligning and a chorus of angels appears in the rafters of the LifeTime pool area. And then it just...stops. I can't tell what I'm doing differently either during or after, but one of these days I'm going to figure it out and then I will love swimming and also be able to get me one of those flying pigs I've heard so much about.

Accomplishments:
Ran 8 miles on the treadmill in solidarity with KB, whose knee has been bugging her. Mikey was there, too. Hit my splits and felt pretty good the whole time.

Surprises:
Had a mystery leak in the wall near my (intact) master bath. The parents were here to visit all last week, so Pops cut a small hole to see what was up. He couldn't really tell, and since they were planning to leave the following day, we talked about just leaving it for now and getting a better look the next time they come to visit. A few hours later, he sent me the following email:
To: Kristen
From: Pops
Subject: sorry

Message: Couldn't stand it.
Mystery solved, I guess. I love my Dad.
It turns out it was a really good thing he opened it up: apparently there has been water pouring down inside the walls due to a shoddy pipe-patch-job--done by some unknown plumber years ago--that eventually failed. The parents extended their stay by a day and got it taken care of (the leak, that is. They put the bathroom back in a usable state, but it still needs some, uh, cosmetic work). Seriously, handy dads are the best.

Bonus:
My beautiful new bike finally arrived! But more on that next week...
