Pat's Run

No, not that Pat. :)

A bunch of people from my tri Team participated in Pat's Run on Saturday. It's a 4.2 mile run that celebrates the life of former ASU football star and Army Ranger, Pat Tillman. His ASU number was 42, so lots of things were 42 themed. By far the coolest part was the finish line, which was located on the 42-yard-line of Sun Devil Stadium - you ran through a chute lined by current ASU football players and throngs of people cheering you on to the finish. AND that part was all broadcast on the stadium jumbo tron. Too much fun!
The race itself went so well! When I started running 15 months ago, I was averaging about a 12 minute mile. That pretty much stuck around ever since, but I've been slowly getting a little faster thanks to my insane training schedule for the triathlon. So I thought I'd be a little ambitious and place myself in the 10 min/mile corral for the race, just to see if I could do it. Ha! I ended up running the race at a 9:45 pace. WOOOO! I was so happy!

Also, one of my friends works for an orthopedic clinic and they were offering free consultations and physical therapy stretching at the expo. So we all got stretched out when we were finished - that was actually really fun. The therapist who was working on me started the hamstring stretch on me (pictured) and said "Dang, girl, you have some LONG legs!" Why, just because my leg spans the length from your knee to above your head?

Anyway, it was a really fun morning followed by a fun evening of hamburgers and mini golf with friends. Not too shabby.

Not to shabby at all! That sounds like a lot of fun and it is incredibly cool that you got to run to the 42nd yard line in the stadium!

A 9:45 pace too! I knew you'd be a trailblazer! Keep up the running and training! You are so going to rock that triathlon!

Sounds... fun(?). If you like running and all that. :)

We're doing well. Jamie is already living in CH and the girls and I move on May 12th or 13th. It will be so nice to be along together as a family again and start putting down new roots.

I was just going to email you, but couldn't find your email address in my contacts list. How is that possible??? Weird.

I, too, thought of you and Hoegaarden this week. :) Awesome.
