Currently Watching: Finding Neverland

The survival streak continues. I had another Histology exam this morning. For those of you who are counting, it was just over one week ago that I had my first exam. Med school classes are cruel.

I am eating a 99 cent frozen meal for lunch right now. It is cleverly named "Shrimp Scampi" due, I can only assume, to the fact that it contains small bits of shrimp-like substance and a buttery sauce. It also claims to be from the brand's "Lean Gourmet" line of frozen meals. Lean it may be, but gourmet it is not.

I have two computer screens at school. I can slide things back and forth between the two - it doubles my working space and allows me to watch dvd's on one screen while working on Photoshop projects on the other. I have a feeling that this two screen feature may be cutting back on my productivity here at school. Not, as I'm sure you are assuming, because of the dvd watching. No, I can paint in Photoshop to my hearts content with the sounds of Lord of the Rings filling my earphones while the colors of the movie flash merrily in my peripheral vision. It is the rotating desktop background that seems to be the cause of all my time suckage. My desktop background picture - for both screens, mind you - changes every minute. It rotates randomly through an enormous folder of pictures of my friends, family, travels, pets...chances are, if you're reading this post, there is probably a picture of you flashing up on my desktop once or twice a day. (and Haley, since I have a sneaking suspicion that you are the only one who still reads my Xanga postings, there are definitely several pictures of you in said desktop background folder). Invariably, at least once a day, I will find myself sitting and staring blankly at the ever-changing background pictures. Reliving the moments when the pictures were taken. Wondering what so and so is doing right now. Wishing I had now the thighs I hated at 14. Right now, for example, on my one screen there is a picture of Mike pretend-sleeping in the hallway of the hotel in Toronto covered with newspapers, and on the other screen, a picture of me and my fabulous sister at the beach on Tybee Island. And now, it has changed to a picture of the townhouses on the canals in Amsterdam and a picture of Molly and Vagus (dog and cat) lying on Alissa's bed. And now a picture at the orchid house at the Keukenhof in Amsterdam and a picture of me and my friends on St. Patrick's Day. And now... Well, you get the idea.
