Holy cats (to borrow a phrase from the wonderful Jen) it rains in Georgia! Today we begin what looks to be a solid week of rain rain rain. From what I hear, it takes about a teaspoon and a half of precipitation to start some heavy duty flooding, so I'm choosing to be glad I live towards the top of a giant hill...although it makes the trek home from classes something of a misery (the hill, and now also the rain). Another Georgia phenomenon - the raindrops fall straight down from the sky. I know all you fellow midwesterners are thinking "What? How can this be? In all my years I've only seen rain streaming down at no less than a 30 degree angle!" Well, I'm here to tell you that this craziness is true. According to the locals, this is known as "big fat straight rain" (strangely reminicent of Forrest Gump's description of the rain in Vietnam).
After another wonderful stint in the cadaver lab today, I will be heading home to prepare a dish for the pot-luck that my fellow classmates and I are having tonight. What will I be making, you ask? I shall whip up what can be described as a food rivaled in deliciousness only by the sweet ambrosia of ancient Greek mythology - Cinnamon Puffs. These little gems are oh-so-easy to make, yet their goodness simply boggles the mind...and the tastebuds. If you come to see me here, I shall make them for you. See how I use bribes to lure you to visit me? ;)
