Ironman Training Week 19

12 weeks to go (HOLY MOLY that seems really soon...)

Week 19 went like this:
Swim: 2 workouts, 1hr 40 min, 4200m
Bike: 3 workouts, 6hr 53min, Saturday ride - 61miles (elevation gain 2847 ft)
Run: 4 workouts, 3hr 30min, 22.2miles
Strength: 2 workouts, 30min
Total: 12hr 33min
(bike totals include spin/trainer time, but not spin/trainer distance)

Challenges:
Getting myself out the door for my 110 minute run yesterday took alllll my motivation. Just was not excited to go run for two hours. But I finally laced up the shoes and headed out around 6:50pm and ended up having a really nice run.

Accomplishments:
Successfully used aerobars for the first time ever. I got them installed and fit on Tuesday night, and used them on my long ride on Saturday. I loved them! It was so nice to have another position to ride in, and the position was really comfortable. And, as a bonus, my lower back didn't hurt by the end of the ride, which was nice for a change; it could be due to the aerobars, or just the fact that we had a relatively short ride this week (20 miles shorter than last weekend), but either way it was a welcome relief.

Surprises:
Kristi and I were discussing water bottles a couple weeks ago (as you do), and I lamented the fact that one of the tri participants I coached last year unintentionally absconded with my favorite small water bottle. It wasn't anything fancy (a promotional bottle that I got for free years ago) but it was just so squeezy and perfect. On Saturday morning, Kristi showed up with the brand new version for me, emblazoned with the perfect motivational mantra. Yeah, she's pretty great. :)

Bonus:
Truth.
